To date, Levita has received regulatory approval for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in more than 50 countries.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved STAXYN™, a new formulation of the Bayer drug Levitra®. STAXYN, a vardenafil 10 mg orally disintegrating tablet, is the first and only erectile dysfunction (ED) medication to be approved in this new formulation. The tablet disintegrates on the tongue without liquid. Bayer’s marketing partners GlaxoSmithKline and Merck & Co., Inc. expect to make the medicine available by prescription in the United States later this year. In Europe, Bayer has submitted the product for marketing authorization and expects to receive approval in 2010.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the consistent or recurrent inability of a man to attain and / or maintain a penile erection sufficient for sexual performance over a period of more than six months. An estimated 152 million men worldwide, 16 percent of all men aged 20 to 75, experience erection difficulties. It is predicted that the global prevalence of ED will increase to 322 million by 2025.
